The fastest recorded time of Dogginess

The Fastest Dog

Greyhound is the fastest dog breed in the world over short distances.  According to Guinness World Records, the highest speed at which any greyhound has been timed is 41.8 mph (67.3km/h) in Wyong, Australia  1994

Most dog breeds enjoy running. However, Greyhounds are one of the fastest animals on land. Originally come from the deserts of the Middle East, and are one of the oldest breeds around. Greyhounds had arrived in Europe by around the 6th Century. Today, it is mainly used for hunting and racing. Greyhounds have very short hair, which is easy to maintain. The fastest dog species also have a very deep chest for enlarged heart and lung capacity, long, powerful legs and a long tail. The Greyhound is not an aggressive dog, they are sociable with people and with other dogs. This very ancient breed is moderately easy to train, they rarely bark and are good with children, are gentle and affectionate, and very intelligent. They make excellent house pets. The life span of these dogs is over ten years.

The First Typewriter

It was called the "Sholes & Glidden Type Writer," and it was produced by the gunmakers E. Remington & Sons in Ilion, NY from 1874-1878. It was not a great success (not more than 5,000 were sold), but it founded a worldwide industry, and it brought mechanization to dreary, time-consuming office work. With the key of an old telegraph instrument mounted on its base, Sholes would tap down on his model, and the little type jumped up to hit the carbon & paper against the glass plate. There was nothing for spacing, line advance or any "normal" typewriter feature. Those were all to come. It seems silly, but in 1868, the mere idea that type striking against paper to produce an image was totally new. It needed proving, and the little telegraph key model did the trick.
.
With the point proven, Sholes proceeded to construct a machine to do the whole alphabet. The prototype was eventually sent to Washington as the required Patent Model. The original still exists, locked up in a vault at the Smithsonian:
Sholes' original prototype and patent model.

May 1st, Cold War Remembrance?

Most Americans associate May Day with the hanging of flower baskets or the National Day of Prayer. With the Cold War now a distant memory, we seem to have forgotten that May 1, or May Day, while traditionally representing the coming of spring, has been for over a century the most important calendar day of the year for communists, socialists, and anarchists. This was the traditional day in the Soviet Union and the communist bloc countries for massive parades, replete with missiles, tanks, rank upon rank of goose-stepping troops, red flags, and huge posters of Marx and Lenin. This has not changed in countries that are still officially communist, such as China, North Korea, Cuba, and Vietnam. In non-communist countries of the world, the communist and socialist parties have continued to hold May Day celebrations, usually under the banner of International Workers Solidarity Day.

Andy McInerney, a staff member of the communist Workers World Party and a leader of the ANSWER Coalition's illegal alien organizing effort, extolled the glories of May Day in the Spring 1996 edition of Liberation & Marxism. McInerney wrote:
Every year, the ruling classes around the world are again reminded of their vulnerability and of the power of their gravediggers. On May 1, the world working class displays its strength in demonstrations and strikes. May Day — International Workers' Day — is a reminder to the ruling classes that their days are numbered.... From 1919 onward, the success of May Day in the United States would depend on the success of the communist movement....
I for one, will not let the dirt bags of communistic societies claim a day to show of what they don't have.

The 10 most Expensive Homes in the world...

10.  Rybolovlev Estate – $95 Million

Rybolovlev-Estate
This house is the most expensive single family home in the country and, since it was owned by Donald Trump, it’s obviously the most expensive home ever fought over in a divorce case.  The 33,000 square foot oceanfront mansion has become a key part of the proceedings since Trump’s ex-wife Elena Rybolovlev demanded jurisdiction due to infidelity.
This home has 18 bedrooms, 22 bathrooms, and retails for $95 million, making it the most expensive single-family house in the nation…weird, we’re pretty sure we found nine more for this list.  Unless we’re suddenly on TopOnez.Net
Originally on sale for $125 million, it ended up being haggled down to a mere 95.  We guess the economy is hurting everyone these days.

9.  Silicon Valley Mansion — $100 Million

Silicon-Valley-Mansion
As the most expensive single-family home in the US, this house… wait, didn’t we just say that the Rybolovlev Estate was the most expensive single-family house ever?  Well, okay, this one went for 100 million so I guess it wins.
With 5 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms, and an indoor and outdoor pool (in case it rains, we guess), it’s all-in-all a pretty fancy house.

8.  Fleur De Lys — 125 Million

Fleur-De-Lys
Despite being marketed as the world’s most expensive house, the Fleur De Lys somehow only falls on number 8 on our list.  Wow, that’s weird, huh?  It’s almost like people on the Internet are wrong.
Fleur De Lys has 41,000 square feet and 15 bedrooms, but apparently no bathrooms, which we think is a huge oversight either by the architect or the person writing the articles we’re using as sources.

7.  The Manor — $150 Million

Aaron-Spelling-Manor
Here we are, finally, the most expensive residential real estate listing in the US, according to Wiki-freakin’-pedia.  $150 million.  Feels pretty good to put that part to rest, doesn’t it?  Thanks, Aaron Spelling, for having the (7th) most expensive house in the world.
This house features 56,000 square feet, 123 rooms, a bowling alley, an ice rink and allegedly an entire wing devoted to Spelling’s wife’s wardrobe.

6.  The Pinnacle — $155 Million

the-pinnacle
Owned by Tim Blixseth, in Montana, this house is unique for two reasons: it has a private chair lift directly from the house to a nearby ski-resort (which Blixseth owns), and is the only house on this list so far named that doesn’t claim to be the most expensive in the world.

Also, we’re gonna call it right now: best back yard.  Because it’s a ski resort.

5.  Franchuk Villa — $161 Million

Franchuk-Villa
This five-story, freestanding 10-bedroom Victorian Villa also features an underground indoor swimming pool, panic room, and private movie theatre.  It’s also the world’s most expensive home (yeah, sure it is), at $161 million.
How fancy is this place?  Allegedly, during some remodeling, the noise made the Mayor of Moscowangry.  The house is located in London.  That’s right: the house is so fancy it doesn’t make sense.

4.  The Hearst Mansion — $165 Million

Hearst-Mansion
Top Three Facts about the Fourth Most Expensive House in the World: it was used in The Godfather, JFK spent his honeymoon there, and (holy crap, get this): it’s the most expensive home in the US!
It features three swimming pools, 29 bedrooms (you have to supply your own horse heads har har har), movie theater and, for some reason, a disco.

3.  Fairfield Pond — $198 Million

Fairfield-Pond-Mansion
Currently valued that way due to its property taxes, this 66,000 square-foot main house has a basketballcourt, bowling alley, and a $150,000 hot tub. The most valuable home in the US (again, according toWikipedia).

2.  Villa Leopolda — $736 Million

villa_leopolda
Wow, that’s a big jump in price.  Built by King Leopold II of Belgium in 1902 and located on the French Riviera, this home was purchased by Russian billionaire Prokhorov, who is so rich he lost billions to the latest economic collapse and still had enough fun money to buy himself a three-quarter-billion-dollar summer home.  It has 27 stories, 19 bedrooms, and a rumored 50 full-time gardeners.

1.  Antilla – $1,000,000,000

Antilla
This is it. The one you’ve been waiting for. The grand finale. The one billion dollar home. We give you…Antilla, the actual most expensive house in the world…finally.
Located in Mumbai, Antilla challenges pretty much everything you’d expect about “what is possible in a home” and “what is possible for architecture.”  The 27-story house features six floors of parking, a health level with a jacuzzi, gym, and “ice room,” a ballroom level (for dancing?) several floors of bedrooms and bathrooms and even a four-story garden — because, yeah, we guess that’s possible.
The architecture is based on an Indian tradition called Vastu Shastra, which is supposed to be conducive to the movement of positive energy.  In keeping with this, each floor has not only a unique design, but an entirely unique set of materials and aesthetic design — meaning each room is meant to look like it’s from a different house.
Basically, this house has everything — things you can imagine, things you can’t imagine, and things you never thought to imagine but are now imagining because they sound like the greatest thing you’ve ever heard.

The Worlds Strongest Magnet

So the the earth's strongest magnet is not the earth, but in fact is a giant bomb looking thing. But, how strong is the earths magnetic field to begin with?
The Earth's magnetic field varies depending on your location on the Earth's surface. In regions near the magnetic poles, such as Siberia, Canada, and Antarctica, it can exceed 60 microteslas (0.6 gauss), whereas in regions farther away, such as South America and South Africa, is around 30 microteslas (0.3 gauss).
Now that we know that, how strong is the magnet?
The world’s strongest magnet has been created and sits in the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University. According to researchers, it has the potential to revolutionize scientific research. The custom built split magnet took $2.5 million to complete, and operates at 25 Tesla – which is 500,000 times stronger than our planet’s magnetic field. If are ever caught in one of these devices, let’s just say you probably won’t live to tell the tale.
